The 2018 Nordica Navigator 90 is brand new for this year, and is the widest offering of the Navigator series. This ski is a re-make of the popular NRGY series from the past few years and fills the void of an upper level intermediate/advanced/expert all-mountain ski. The Navigator 90 is a great ski that many different ability levels will be able to enjoy because of its construction, stability, and turning capabilities. An all new build for 2018, the Nordica Navigator series is based off of a combination of the Enforcer’s tip, the Dobermann’s tail, and a core that consists of a hexagonally/geometrically cut out piece of Titanium called “Hex Bridge.” By adding up all of these components, the Navigator 90 is a chameleon of sorts that carves like a race ski, floats like a freeride ski, and behaves like an all-mountain ski. It’s rare that a ski can do all these things, and Nordica will find a lot of success with this formula. The stability, especially on harder snow, is quite impressive. With a full sidewall and wood core—combined with the Titanium Hex Bridge—the Navigator is very stable. There’s minimal chatter even on ice, and when you hit some softer snow, it stays glued to the surface sans vibrations. With a 17.5 meter turn radius at 186cm length, the ski is able to make fantastic shorter turns, even at longer lengths. The tail holds you in the turn quite competently, and you feel in control regardless of speed. It’s truly a great turning ski. Nordica has found a winning formula with the Navigator 90.
